Council Passes Resolutions Supporting Minimum Wage Increase and Ohio House Bill 460
Councilmember Sittenfeld sponsored two resolutions passed by Council setting forth the City Council's position on various State and Federal legislative issues.
In a 6-0 vote, Council expressed its support for an increase in the federal minimum wage to $10.10 as proposed by the Congressional Harkin-Miller bill. Sittenfeld held a press conference announcing the support along side United Food and Commercial Workers and local Faith Leaders, and stated that "supporting an increase in the minimum wage ensures that dignity and fairness are reflected in the paycheck of everyone who puts in an honest, hard day's work".
Sittenfeld also sponsored a resolution expressing City Council's support for Ohio House Bill 460, which authorized school districts and community schools to transition to community learning centers and assist and guide that restructuring. The resolution, which passed with an 8-0 vote of Council, supports the expansion of the Cincinnati-model community learning centers, which are internationally recognized as best-in-class.
