The SafetyNet Program Announced

SafetyNet is a community-based safety contact program, developed by Petermann in collaboration with the Cincinnati Police Department, which enables Petermann personnel to report possible truancies, safety hazards, threats, or incidents that they observe in neighborhoods they serve, primarily during their daily bus routes. The goal of SafetyNet is to help maintain and enhance a safe environment for children to travel to and from school and in their neighborhoods so that they are better able to receive a good education.

When a Petermann driver observes a possible safety hazard, threat, or incident that is not an emergency, they may,

  • Radio dispatch right away
  • Report in person to a SafetyNet contact
  • Complete a SafetyNet report and turn it in to the SafetyNet contact person

Why has Petermann developed SafetyNet?

Petermann is an established industry leader in its best-practice safety and security training. SafetyNet enhances this already strong community commitment, as demonstrated through Petermann’s leadership in the School Bus Watch and Safety Plus programs. The collaboration with the Cincinnati Police Department enables an even sharper focus on achieving and maintaining a safe environment for children to travel to and from school and in their neighborhoods.

Who is involved in SafetyNet?

On a day-to-day basis, primarily Petermann dispatchers, drivers, and monitors participate in SafetyNet. Participation is optional and can be done anonymously. Members of the Cincinnati Police Department work with Petermann to develop and implement the best methods for sighting, alerting, and reporting possible truancies, safety hazards or situations that may threaten children and/or adults and the neighborhoods in which they live.
