Two members of the Cincinnati Police Department will be promoted in a ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 30 in the second floor conference room at Police Headquarters, 310 Ezzard Charles Drive. Chief Thomas H. Streicher, Jr. will preside and administer the oath of office to Police Specialist Lisa Dotson and Police Specialist Yvonne Gutapfel.

Police Specialist Lisa Dotson is a graduate of McAuley High School. She entered the Police Academy’s 81st Recruit Class in January 1996. Her first assignment upon graduation in June of that year was on patrol in District Five. A year later, she was transferred to District Three. In 1999 she was transferred to District One, where she worked first on patrol and then in the Investigative Unit. Since 2005 Specialist Dotson has been the district’s crime analyst, compiling and analyzing data to support the crime prevention, investigation and problem solving efforts in District One. She has completed specialized training in computer applications and earned certification as a crime, intelligence and geographic profiling analyst. Her husband, Police Officer John Dotson, serves in District Three’s Investigative Unit. Her cousin, Police Officer Brian Wheeler, serves in District Five. Specialist Dotson and her husband make their home in Green Township with their five children.

Police Specialist Yvonne Gutapfel is a graduate of East Central High School in St. Leon, Indiana. In September 2003 she entered the 95th Recruit Class at the Police Academy. Upon graduation, she was assigned to patrol in District One, where she served for four years. In April 2008 she was transferred to her current assignment in District Three. Specialist Gutapfel is one of the Department’s Mental Health Response Team officers. She has also served as a Field Training Officer, assisting with the “street training” of new officers in the first months after they complete their curriculum at the Police Academy. Specialist Gutapfel and her husband are the parents of three sons.
