YOUNG PEOPLE OF PRINCIPLE AND STANDARDS EVENT

Saturday July 12 at Winton Hills Recreation Center

Cincinnati Police Department’s Youth Services Unit will offer the second Young People of Principle and Standards (YPOPS) event from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday July 12 at the Winton Hills Recreation Center, 5170 Winneste Avenue.  YPOPS is designed for students between 14 and 19 to inspire them to be their best selves by teaching them the importance of responsible manhood/womanhood, scholarship, and community.  The program includes workshops, lectures and break-out sessions on topics such as self-love (respect), truth, peer pressure, being a gentleman or a lady who respects others, hygiene, health and fitness, and effective communication.  Cincinnati police officers will facilitate the discussions, and community members with related field expertise will be guest speakers.  The objective of the YPOPS program is to give young people information and skills to develop character and leadership while building pride in self, home and community.

Those interested in participating may obtain registration forms by contacting CPD’s Youth Services Unit at 513-681-0052.  Registration forms are also available at all CPD Districts.

Forty-seven teens took part in the first YPOPS event June 21 at the Evanston Recreation Center.  A third event is scheduled for August 23 at the Bush Recreation Center.
