Mayor Mark Mallory's Office

An internship with the Office of the Mayor is a great opportunity for students to develop both personally and professionally. Interns will experience city government firsthand. Successful interns with the Mayor's Office are those who are able to work in a fast-paced, rapid-response work environment. An intern's responsibilities will vary in nature

The dates for the internship sessions are as follows:

  • Spring (January to May)
  • Summer 1 (May to August)
  • Summer 2 (June to September)
  • Fall (September to December)

  • Applicants must be current university students
  • Please apply a month in advance of the session start date

Positions Available

Community Affairs InternCommunications InternLegislative Intern
  • Assist in the development and execution of programs/initiatives from the Mayor's office
  • Conduct correspondence with various constituency groups in absence of the Community Liaison
  • Write press releases, talking points, and other promotional materials
  • Help manage the Mayor's website
  • Plan and coordinate media events
  • Research and respond to inquiries from the media
  • Conduct policy research
  • Track City Council Meetings/Legislation
  • Plan and implement seminars focusing on small business development
