ONE-ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE at 6628 Merwin Ave. - Madisonville

District Fire Chief Gregory A. Potter with the Cincinnati Fire Department reporting on a One-Alarm structure fire that occurred in the Madisonville neighborhood of Cincinnati in the early morning of March 27, 2014.  At 5:45 AM the Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center received a telephone call reporting a building on fire at  6628 Merwin Ave.

Initial arriving units reported heavy fire on the outside of a one-story frame dwelling with an attic.  It took firefighters approximately 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.  An interior search of the building determined that there were no occupants in the building and the fire had not extended into the interior of the structure.

Damage is estimated at $12,000.  There were no reported injuries.  There were a total of 33 fire personnel working at this incident.  Cause of the fire is  under investigation by the Cincinnati Fire Department Fire Investigations Unit.

At the time of this media release firefighters still remain on the scene assisting the investigators.
