ONE ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE 2414 Queen City in Westwood

District Fire Chief Marc E. Monahan reported on a One-Alarm structure fire that occurred in the Westwood neighborhood of Cincinnati on Thursday, January 30, 2014.  At 2:29 AM, the Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center received a call for a fire in Apt. 1 of 2414 Queen City.  

Upon arrival, fire companies reported a working fire on the 1st floor of a three story, occupied, multi-family dwelling.  First-in fire companies initiated an aggressive interior attack and quickly brought the fire under control while also evacuating multiple victims from the adjacent apartments.

A Metro bus was immediately requested to shelter the residents due to the cold weather.  Fire department paramedics transported one adult resident to Mercy Western Hills Hospital for smoke inhalation.  

Fire fighters remain on the scene overhauling and checking for fire extension.  Damage is estimated at $20,000.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Cincinnati Fire Department Investigative Unit.  

Thirty-two firefighters were utilized at this incident.  There was one civilian injury and no firefighter injuries.  It is unknown how many residents will be displaced at this time.
