District Fire Chief Michael A. Washington Sr. reported on a One-Alarm structure fire that occurred in the Bond Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. At 12:30 PM, the Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center received a telephone call reporting a structure fire at 1411 Joseph Street.
Upon arrival, fire companies reported a “working fire” with medium smoke showing from the attic of a 1-story with an attic brick (private) dwelling. First-due fire companies conducted an aggressive interior fire attack limiting the fire spread to a small portion of the attic. Primary and secondary searches proved negative all occupants had self evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival.
The cause and origin was an attic ventilation fan that had an electrical short. Damage is estimated at $10,000. Thirty-two firefighters were utilized at this incident. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
