The Cincinnati Fire Department is excited to announce that 50 new fire recruits will begin drill school on Tuesday at 7 a.m. at the Cincinnati Fire Training Center at 564 West Liberty (Engine 29).
This class is unique because they'll be the third fire recruit class whose salary is completely funded for the next two years from a grant provided by the Department of Homeland Security's – Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER) Program.
The recruits will train for the next six months, with an expected graduation date in November of 2014.
"The Cincinnati Fire Department is eager to host their third consecutive class of SAFER funded fire recruits, who will help fulfill a critical gap in our operations. We are also proud to announce that Class 113 represents one of the largest and most diverse classes in CFD's history," stated Cincinnati Fire Chief Richard Braun.
