Winter Operations: March 5, 2013
The National Weather Service forecast is:
Tonight: Rain and snow this evening...then snow after midnight. Total snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches. Lows around 30. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 100 percent.
Wednesday: Cloudy. A chance of snow showers...mainly in the morning. Highs in the mid 30s. North winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent.
As rain transitions to wintery precipitation, City crews will be out treating roadways.
Significant accumulation is forecast. Blades have been installed on our salt trucks and our crews are ready to fight through the various road conditions that we will likely experience overnight.
Crews begin 12-hour rotating shifts tonight and continuing throughout the course of this event.
Citizens should make plans tonight for the possibility of a hazardous commute to work tomorrow morning.
