City Launches New 'Equity' Page For Resources, To Report Discrimination
Nov 21, 2019
The City of Cincinnati has created a series of new digital tools that both inform individuals about the City’s efforts to promote racial and gender equity and provide a streamlined platform for reporting discrimination.
There have been many motions, resolutions, and ordinances passed by City Council to create and encourage racial and gender equity in Cincinnati. The City created a new equity page on its website to provide additional information about these topics. It also includes a form that allows a user to digitally submit a formal complaint of discrimination.
The website doesn’t intend to replace traditional forms of reporting or change the formal manner by which those reports are handled, but it does make those processes clearer and more accessible.
In addition to the website, discrimination complaints can also be filed with the City through email or written letter. Those complaints go to the City Manager or someone he designates for a preliminary review and hearing. Complaints deemed valid get sent to the prosecutor’s office for civil or criminal enforcement.
The City of Cincinnati is committed to doing everything in its power to make sure doors remain open to all Cincinnatians and to make Cincinnati a more inclusive and equitable place to live, work and play.
