Economic and Community Development

The Economic and Community Development Division provides City agencies with legal advice and consultation related to publicly funded economic development activities and provides legal services for the acquisition and disposition of City-owned real estate. Attorneys in Economic and Community Development draft contracts for the funding of human services, housing, transportation and development initiatives. Economic and Community Development attorneys staff the City Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals; assist General Counsel with the staffing of City Council Committees; and, with attorneys in the Civil Litigation Section, represent the City in matters that derive from the operations of the Real Estate/Relocation Services Division. The Division also provides legislation, legal advice and counsel to City Council and all of the City departments regarding environmental and utility matters, and is responsible for coordination of energy-related matters before administrative agencies such as the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
