District Chief Ron Davis of the Cincinnati Fire Department reported on a one-alarm fire in North Fairmount on 8/15/08 at 12:30 AM. Initial arriving fire units reported a vacant building on fire at 1512 Knox Street. Fire companies encountered heavy fire conditions extending from the first, second and third floors, as well as the roof area. Fire companies made an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control with in forty-five minutes.
Fire companies remained on the scene for approximately four hours extinguishing hidden fires throughout the structure. The Cincinnati Fire Investigation Bureau is investigating this fire. The fire cause is listed as undetermined. The property loss is $40,000 dollars there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The structure was vacant with no working smoke detectors.
