Fire Prevention Week: Prevent Kitchen Fires
The Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD) announces Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme, "Prevent Kitchen Fires," highlights the fact that the kitchen is the leading area of origin for home fires and puts the focus on the importance of fire escape planning and practice, and knowing what to do when the smoke alarm sounds in your home.
The reality is that when fire strikes, your home could be engulfed in smoke and flames in just a few minutes. It is important to have a home fire escape plan that prepares your family to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds.
During the week, the public the 26 Cincinnati Fire stations. Each fire house will be distributing smoke alarms and batteries.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, between 1 and 5 p.m., CFD will once again open its doors to all citizens to come and meet Cincinnati firefighters. There will also be fun fire safety materials, snacks and refreshments provided by the Cincinnati Fire Foundation.
