Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield Commits To 400 Jobs In East Walnut Hills
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has committed to remain in the East Walnut Hills neighborhood while retaining 325 jobs and adding 75 new jobs over the next several years. The company was looking to consolidate their operations and to reduce expenses by combining and moving their facilities to their Mason location.
"We are pleased that Anthem will remain in East Walnut Hills creating much-needed jobs opportunities," said City Manager Milton Dohoney, Jr. "Creating jobs and increasing investment throughout the city is vital to growing a healthy local economy and improving the city's financial picture."
Economic Development officials were able to negotiate the retention of Anthem’s current staff and the additional employees with an incentive package that will keep the East Walnut Hills facility maintained and operational for at least the next 10 years. City Council will vote on the Anthem jobs package at today's Council meeting.
"Anthem has been an important member of the Cincinnati and East Walnut Hills business communities. The company’s positive economic impact in East Walnut Hills has been felt throughout the years," said Odis Jones, Economic Development Director. "Most recently, Anthem's offices served as a key anchor to aid in the ongoing revitalization of the DeSales Corner Business District. Anthem's presence in the City has served as a needed stabilizing influence."
Anthem also plans to invest at least $1.5 million towards improvements to the facility located at 1351 William Howard Taft.
